Carta Bella Fall Fun - 'tis the Season for Giving Thanks

It is certainly feeling very autumnal here and as I like to scrap with the seasons, I was really pleased when Vanessa at Papermaze sent me some of the new Fall Fun collection from Carta Bella to play with.

This collection uses a colour palette which fans of Carta Bella will be familiar with and features images of pumpkins, leaves, sunflowers, plaids, wreaths and lots more. As the colour palette is an old favourite for Carta Bella, you can also easily easily mix and match old and new Carta Bella collections. My layout uses a harvest photo taken at a National Trust property.

I started this layout by spraying some Mango Blaze Cosmic Shimmer mist onto a sheet of smooth white cardstock. The mist contains mica so has a lovely shimmer. Once the mist had dried, 5mm was trimmed from each edge of the cardstock and layered onto a gutted sheet of the Flannel Warmth paper leaving a narrow frame around the outside. The mist did warp the cardstock a little but once the layout is in album I don't think it will be noticeable. Using brown thread I machine stitched round the edges of the white cardstock.

In the Silhouette Store I found an autumnal wreath cut file and cut this from some dark brown cardstock. The cut file was then backed with papers from the collection and some scraps of cardstock.

The backed cut file was placed in the centre of the layout and the 5x7 photo which had been matted with dark brown card was added.

On the sheet of Chipboard Phrases I found an appropriate plaque and placed this beneath the photo.

In my stash I found some extremely old paper sunflowers and paper leaves and added these to the cut file.

Finally I added a journalling strip printed on the computer at the bottom of the page and dotted some enamel dots and some sequins from Picket Fence around the layout.

P13 - Coffee Break - Coffee & Cake

Here is my final layout to share using the Coffee Break collection from P13. My layout today uses always popular hexagons, including three hexagonal shaped photos.

I started by trimming 1/4" from all sides of a sheet of white Bazzill 12x12 cardstock and matted this onto a 12x12 sheet of brown cardstock leaving a narrow brown frame.

From the Coffee Break Patterned papers I cut 14 hexagons and using a white gel pen I drew some faux stitching on the edges. I also cut three photos into hexagons of the same size.

The hexagons were then arranged on the layout and once I was happy with the distribution of colours and the positioning of the photos, they were stuck to the layout with 3D foam underneath to raise them up and create some dimension.

Using a honeycomb die, I die cut some pieces from green cardstock to use as embelishments. The green honeycombs were tucked underneath the hexagons on two sides of the layout.

From paper #7 and from the bonus pages in the front and back of the 6x6 paper pad, I fussy cut some florals and pastries and used these to create three clusters of embelishments on top of the hexagons.

The green cardstock I had already used on the layout picked up on the green in the floral images.

Using black cardstock I die cut, using the Silhouette Cameo, the title and backed this using more of the green cardstock and some of the patterned paper.

At the bottom of the layout I added a journalling strip printed on the computer.

Finally, I splattered the layout with some brown watercolour paint and scattered some gold sequins and brown enamel dots here and there.

P13 - Coffee Break - Probably the Best Coffee Ever

Today I have another layout using P13's Coffee Break collection.

For today's layout, I used eight images taken from WhatsApp messages which I printed onto photo paper.

I started by trimming 1/4" from all sides of a sheet of smooth white 12x12 cardstock and matted this onto a 12x12 sheet of brown cardstock.

On the right side of the layout I layered various pieces of paper from the 6x6 paper pad and some of the brown cardstock, which I punched with a border punch to create a decorative edge. Later I was able to cover the joins in the 6" pieces of paper with my photo block giving the impression that the papers were a full 12" in length. Using the sewing machine I stitched a straight stitch along the edges.

My eight photos were matted as a block onto a couple of piece of brown paper from the paper pad.

Images were fussy cut from a 12x12 sheet of paper #3 and added to the layout.

In my stash I found a wood veneer banner with the word 'Fav' cut into it and added this below the photo block.

Using the Silhouette Cameo I cut the title from some dark brown cardstock. The title was stuck in the bottom left corner of the layout nestling the smaller letters among the word Coffee.

Journalling strips were printed with brown ink onto white cardstock on the computer and placed above the title.

Finally I splattered some brown watercolour paint onto the layout and scattered some gold sequins and brown enamel dots here and there.

P13 - Coffee Break

Today on the Scrap, Paper Scissors blog I'm sharing my first layout using the new Coffee Break collection from P13. This collection is unsurprisingly coffee themed! The papers are full of images of all sorts of coffee products - coffee cups, takeout cups, sweet treats to eat with coffee plus flowers and lots more.

I have been using predominantly the 6x6 paper pad plus a couple of sheets of 12x12 papers (#3 & #7) suitable for fussy cutting, some decorative tags and a few sheets of co-ordinating cardstock.

I started by matting a slightly trimmed down sheet of white 12x12 cardstock onto a sheet of green cardstock. At the top and bottom I placed some torn pieces of patterned paper and then machine stitched round the edges with white thread.

In the centre of the layout I layered a piece of peach tissue paper, my photo and some frames cut from patterned paper and the green cardstock. Before gluing down the tissue paper I crumpled it a little to add some texture.

Next, I set about fussy cutting some leaves and flowers, a coffee cup and pastry from paper #7 and also from the bonus pages in the front and back of the paper pad.

The fussy cut images were layered across the bottom and right edge of the photo with some 3D foam underneath some, to raise them up. This created lots of dimension.

Among the fussy cut images I nestled one of the tags from the decorative tags pack and strung this with a little bit of green embroidery thread.

In my stash I found some wood veneer leaves and a plaque that said favorite and added these to the cluster of images too.

The title was created using some Pink Fresh Studio Puffy Alphabet Stickers.

Journalling strips were typed on the computer and printed in green onto white cardstock. the strips were glued beneath the photo.

Finally, I splattered the layout with some brown watercolour paint and added a few gold sequins and some brown enamel dots.

Simple Stories - Boho Sunshine - Its Five O'Clock Somewhere

Today I have a final layout to share using Simple Stories' Boho Sunshine collection.

For this layout I created a background by layering a 9.5"x9.5" piece of the Be You paper onto a 12"x12" piece of the Be Kind paper with pieces of black and white cardstock layered in between. A strip of the B side of the Be You paper, matted with black cardstock, was placed horizontally on top.

Using white thread I then machine stitched along all edges with a straight stitch.

The 4"x6" photo was matted with more of the Be Kind paper and placed on the layout with 3D foam beneath to add dimesion.

I embellished the photo with die cuts and a 'love this'  sticker.

The title was created by die cutting the word 'Somewhere' from black cardstock on the Silhouette Cameo ...

.... and using a manual die cutting machine to cut the remaining words from black fun foam. The title was added to the left and below the photo.

Using scraps of the Groovy paper (left over from a previous layout) and white twine I created some bunting which I hung across the page above the photo. The ends of the twine were secured to the back of the layout using tape.

Journaling strips were printed onto white cardstock on the computer and added to the layout.

Finally I scattered a few silver and iridescent sequins around the edges of the layout to add a bit of sparkle.

Simple Stories - Boho Sunshine - You are my Sonshine

Today I'm sharing a layout using photos I took of Steven one summer, and once again I've been using the Simple Stories Boho Sunshine collection.

I started my layout by using a free cut file from www.happinessishomemade.net. The cut file said 'You are my Sunshine' but I altered it in the Silhouette Studio to say 'You are my Sonshine' before cutting it from a 12x12 sheet of smooth white cardstock.

The words in the cut file were backed with a piece of the Happy Day paper and the sun rays were backed with pieces cut from the Groovy and Smile Big papers.

Behind the sun shape I created a shaker pocket using acetate. I searched my stash for as many yellow sequins as I could find. I didn't find many, so I also punched a few tiny hearts and stars from yellow cardstock to bulk out the shaker pocket.

The backed cut file was then trimmed to 11.5" x 11.5", attached to a bright yellow piece of 12 x 12 cardstock and machine stitched round the edges with white thread.

Using 6 strands of yellow embroidery floss I chainstitched lines between the sun rays. This added more texture to the layout.

I printed two small photos of Steven and stuck these onto two tags from the sheet of Tag Elements.

The tags with the photos, and two others, were stuck to the bottom of the layout - two pointing up and two pointing down.

The tags were strung together with white string.

Finally, a few sequins and a smiley face sticker from the Sticker Book were used to embellish the tags .

Simple Stories - Boho Sunshine - You are my Rainbow

This month the Scrap, Paper, Scissors design team have been working on something a little different, and decided to do a team scraplift.  A layout was chosen then everyone used it as inspiration for their own layout.  Sometimes the design of the original layout was stuck to, other times certain elements were used.  The layout that we chose is this one by Michelle Gallant (https://scrapsandpixels.blogspot.com/)

This was my layout.

For my layout I used the Simple Stories Boho Sunshine collection. I started by matting a sheet of white cardstock onto a sheet of pale oink cardstock and machine stitched round the edges and splattered some pale pink acrylic paint onto the white cardstock.

I matted 7 tags from the sheet of tags with pink cardstock, machine stitched round each one, tied them with pink and white bakers twine and layered them in the centre of the layout.

My photo was matted with white cardstock and placed on top of the tags.

I added my computer printed journaling onto one tag.

At the top and bottom of the layout I added strips of stripey paper and die cuts from the bits and pieces pack and stickers from the sticker book.

Finally, I dotted a few sequins here and there.

All the design team layouts can be found here.
