American Crafts Paige Evans - Adventurous - Ramble Around Roydon

oday I have a multi photo layout using the  Adventurous collection by Paige Evans for American Crafts.  This collection is perfect for scrapbooking summer adventures and was ideal for my photos of a recent day out.

I started by cutting the 'Polaroid Background' digital cut file from the Silhouette Store, from smooth white cardstock. I cut it slightly smaller than 12x12 and then backed it with photos and some of the tags from paper #5. 

The backed cut file was then stuck to a sheet of paper #17 which had been trimmed to 11.5 x 11.5 and was then matted on a complete sheet of 12x12 smooth white cardstock. I put some 3D foam beneath the cut file to add some dimension and shadow.

The layout was embellished  with floral pieces from the Icon Ephemera pack .....

.... and some words and phrases from the Journalling Ephemera pack and paper #1 cut apart sheet.

In the bottom right corner of the layout I placed a card from the Journalling Ephemera pack as a home for my title.

The title was created with the Mini Alphabet Thickers and some layered die cut letters. I die cut the word Ramble four times from card (3 x white and 1 x pink) and then stuck the letters on top of each other to make them dimensional.

At the top of the card I stamped the date with my roller date stamp with pink ink.

The layout was completed with a few pink Enamel Dots.

Carta Bella Fall Fun - Beautiful

This is my final autumn themed layout using Carta Bella's Fall Fun collection. As this is the last layout created from my design team kit, I didn't have any full sheet of patterned paper left so the layout is made from the paper scraps leftover as well as brown and white cardstock and some gold cardstock from my stash.

I started by gutting a 11" square from a 12x12 sheet of brown Bazzill cardstock and set it aside. On top of the remaining brown cardstock I layered a sheet of smooth white cardstock which I trimmed down slightly to leave a narrow border of brown round the edges.

I them added some yellow ink in the middle of the white cardstock using a blending tool. I have to admit it wasn't very evenly blended but as most of it ended up covered it didn't need to be too neat.

With the Loose Leaf free cut file from The Cut Shoppe cut from the remaining brown cardstock, I used scraps of the collection  and some textured gold cardstock to back the leaves.

I made one of the leaves on the cut file into a shaker pocket using sequins from Picket Fence Studios.

With some 3D foam underneath I attached the backed cut file to the centre of the layout.

My photo was printed with a white border and matted with more of the Autumn Abundance paper and stuck it on top of the cut file. A word from the sheet of chipboard phrases was added to the corner of the photo.

I had some gold die cut leaves left over from my previous layout so decided to add these to the rows of leaves too. They added some extra dimension and interest.

In my stash I found the word Beautiful on a sheet of puffy stickers from Paige Evans. It was rather too pink for the layout and I was surprised that despite it having a shiny texture I was able to easily change the colour of it with a swipe or two of brown ink. The word was stuck to the bottom of the layout.

Using small foam letter stickers I added my dog's name beside one of the leaves.

Finally I splattered a little watered down brown acrylic paint onto the layout, added some orange enamel dots and gold sequins and using a brown gel pen I drew a line all round the layout.

Simple Stories - Boho Sunshine - You are my Sonshine

Today I'm sharing a layout using photos I took of Steven one summer, and once again I've been using the Simple Stories Boho Sunshine collection.

I started my layout by using a free cut file from www.happinessishomemade.net. The cut file said 'You are my Sunshine' but I altered it in the Silhouette Studio to say 'You are my Sonshine' before cutting it from a 12x12 sheet of smooth white cardstock.

The words in the cut file were backed with a piece of the Happy Day paper and the sun rays were backed with pieces cut from the Groovy and Smile Big papers.

Behind the sun shape I created a shaker pocket using acetate. I searched my stash for as many yellow sequins as I could find. I didn't find many, so I also punched a few tiny hearts and stars from yellow cardstock to bulk out the shaker pocket.


The backed cut file was then trimmed to 11.5" x 11.5", attached to a bright yellow piece of 12 x 12 cardstock and machine stitched round the edges with white thread.

Using 6 strands of yellow embroidery floss I chainstitched lines between the sun rays. This added more texture to the layout.

I printed two small photos of Steven and stuck these onto two tags from the sheet of Tag Elements. 

The tags with the photos, and two others, were stuck to the bottom of the layout - two pointing up and two pointing down.

The tags were strung together with white string.

Finally, a few sequins and a smiley face sticker from the Sticker Book were used to embellish the tags .

Crate Paper Gingham Garden - Side by Side

Today I have a layout to share using the new Gingham Garden collection from Crate Paper. This collection has a soft pastel colour palette and if full of florals, ginghams and watercolour patterns. It is soooooo pretty and I am loving creating with it. It would be ideal for spring layouts, heritage layouts, wedding layouts. baby layouts and lots of other themes. Today I've created a layout using three photos of Lara investigating a statue found when we were on holiday one summer.

I started by mounting a trimmed down sheet of the Souvenir paper (B side) onto a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock leaving a narrow boarder round the edge. Strips of the Nostalgia paper and Lovely One paper were then layered at the top of the layout and using my sewing machine I straight stitched along all the edges with white thread to add some texture to the layout.

Three 3x4 photos were triple matted in a row with white cardstock, Lovely One paper and Picnic (B side) paper. Finally they were placed onto a slightly larger piece of the Nostalgia paper and attached to the layout with 3D foam underneath.

Using my Silhouette Cameo I cut a 'Side by Side' cutfile by Peartree Crafts. The cutfile was cut twice - once in smooth white cardstock and once in smooth black cardstock. The white cutfile was backed with the Picnic paper and then the two cutfiles were layered, slightly offset, on top of each other to create a shadow effect. When placed on the layout the cutfile stands out more because of the shadow effect.

Three embellishment clusters were created on the layout - two by the photos and one in the top right corner.

Each cluster contained die cuts from the Ephemera pack, flowers fussy cut from the Fresh Air paper, stickers from the sticker book and some wood veneer leaves and butterfly from my stash. The embellishment pack contains a variety of die cuts cut from shiny cardstock, paper or vellum and some have foil accents. 

To balance the clusters I made sure each one included peach, yellow and aqua elements. In the cluster at the top of the page I also included the date, die cut from the green paper.

Finally I sprinkled a few pale green sequins by each cluster to add some sparkle.

Simple Stories Baking Spirits Bright - Walking with The Snowman

Today I have a final layout using the Simple Stories Baking Spirits Bright collection. My layout isn't about baking but instead records memories of a festive sculpture trail which came to our local town this past Christmas.

I have to admit that when I came to create this layout I didn't have a lot of my design team kit left so I have cheated and added a sheet of Simple Stories Sn@p Basics woodgrain paper from my stash. 

I started with a 12x12 sheet of Bazill Maraschino (red) cardstock and onto this I layered a sheet of 11.75x11.75 white cardstock and  a 10x10 sheet of the Simple Stories Sn@p Basics 'Birch' paper. I machine stitched around all the edges with white sewing thread to add some texture. 

A strip of the Sweet Holiday Wishes paper was then placed horizontally on the layout and also machine stitched.

So that I could include lots of photos on the layout, 12 photos were printed onto a 7x5 piece of photo paper using a collage app. The printed collage was then matted with a piece of the Merry & Bright paper and attached to the layout.

Using a free printable children's colouring page from the internet I created my own cut file of Raymond Briggs' The Snowman. The outline was cut from black cardstock and then backed with some white glitter cardstock and scraps of the Merry & Bright paper. The backed cut file was then tucked under the left edge of the photo collage.

One of the foam stickers from the Foam Sticker Sheet was used to embellish the Snowman's hat and the title was created with another foam sticker and some black cardstock stickers form my stash.

An image from some of the publicity material for the sculpture trail was printed onto some photo paper and, with the addition of some clear number stickers, was used as a sub-title.

Journalling strips printed on the computer were added.

Finally, a couple of foam stars from the stickers sheet were added to the bottom of the layout.

Simple Stories Baking Spirits Bright

As we are just one month away from Christmas Day it seems fitting that today I should be sharing my first layout using the Christmassy 'Baking Spirits Bright' collection from Simple Stories. This is a baking inspired Christmas collection with a bright colour palette and images of kitchen utensils, gingerbread men and other Christmas treats as well as classic Christmas icons such as reindeer, holly and Christmas trees. It is perfect for recording memories of Christmas baking but would be perfect too for general Christmas scrapbooking. 

I started my layout by trimming a quarter of an inch from each edge of a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock and layering this on top of a gutted sheet of 12x12 red cardstock leaving a narrow border. Gutting the red cardstock meant I had cardstock left to use elsewhere on the layout.

Using some olive green sewing thread I then machine stitched along the edges of the white cardstock.

With Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Ink and a stencil from Paige Evans I stenciled pink stars onto the white cardstock background. My 6x4 photograph was matted onto  the red cardstock (saved from earlier) and placed in the top right corner of the layout with 3D foam underneath.

Using my Silhouette Cameo and smooth white cardstock , I cut a Christmas tree cut file from Paige Evans. This was backed with papers from the collection (Sweet Holiday Wishes, Merry and Bright, 3x4 Elements) and more of the red cardstock.

The stars on the Christmas trees were backed with white glitter card and topped with stars from the Foam Sticker sheet.

The cut file was then stuck to the layout with 3D foam underneath.

One of the title stickers from the sheet of Foam Stickers was added to the bottom of the photo and a holly sticker was added to a corner of the photo. A word of warning about these stickers! Once they stick to your layout, they CAN NOT be removed again so make sure you are certain of where you want to stick them before doing so. 

Finally I added journalling strips printed in red ink on my computer at the bottom of the layout and dotted some enamel dots here and there.

Carta Bella Welcome Fall - Remember, Remember the 5th of November

Today I have another layout to share using the Welcome Fall collection from Carta Bella.

Here in the UK, tomorrow (November 5th) is Guy Fawkes Night also known as Bonfire Night when we celebrate a failed gunpowder plot in the 1600s to blow of Parliament's House of Lords. We mark the occasion with bonfires, fireworks and sparklers. Every year I try unsuccessfully to photograph the fireworks but some years ago I did manage to capture in a rather blurred photo Lara's thrill of the sparklers and that is the photo on today's layout.

Onto a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock I layered several pieces of patterned paper and card - an 11.5" square of the 3x4 Journalling Cards  (B Side), a 10" square of white cardstock and an 8.5" square of Fall Flannel paper which was matted with a thin border of gold mirror card. Before sticking down the journalling card paper I choose a card form the centre of the paper and saved this to use on the layout later. The hole in the paper where the card was removed is thankfully hidden by the other paper layers.

I then used one of my favourite methods of adding texture, by machine stitching along the edges of all the papers with white thread.

Using my Silhouette Cameo I cut a star border cut file by Paige Evans. The border was cut twice - once in white cardstock and once in black cardstock. The two die cuts were then layered slightly offset on top of each other, to create a shadow effect, and when placed on the layout made the cut file stand out more against the multi-coloured background. Some of the stars were backed with gold mirror card and some were left open. The cut file was then place diagonally across the layout and one extra star was also tucked into the left side of the layout.

My 6x4 photo was matted on gold mirror card and placed on the layout with some 3D foam underneath for dimension.

I created a tag from the 3x4 journalling cards which I had saved earlier. I matted the card on gold mirror card and added a hole reinforcer and black and white Bakers Twine. The tag was tucked behind some of the stars on the right side of the layout.

The title was added to the bottom of the layout.

'5th' and 'November' were die cut from black and white cardstock and layered in the same was as the stars to create a shadow effect.

Additional words were created with letters die cut from black fun foam. I like to mix fonts, etc when creating titles to give some extra interest. 

Finally I sprinkled a few gold sequins here and there.
