P13 There is No Planet B - Bedtime Wash & Brush Up

Today on the Papermaze blog I have my first project using the There is No Planet B collection from P13. This is the first time I've used P13 products and I'm really impressed with the quality of the papers and the images are beautiful. This collection is focused on recycling, saving the planet, and making sound ecological choices but it could be used to scrapbook so many different things. For my layout today I have chosen to scrapbook a photo of a childhood pre-bedtime routine.

I used a sheet of  white Bazzill cardstock for my base. I trimmed 1cm off of two edges and then tore a small piece from the top and bottom edges.

The edges were all distressed and the white cardstock was matted onto a a sheet of brown cardstock with pieces of paper #6 tucked underneath the torn sections so the pattern peeped out. Using white thread I machine stitched round the edges of the white cardstock using a straight stitch.

A semi-circle was cut from a piece of paper #4 and this was then sliced into wedges. The edges of the wedges were distressed and then the semi circle was reassembled on the layout with 3D foam underneath. Before attaching the semi-circle to the layout I smooshed some pale grey watercolour paint and splattered some grey and brown paint onto the layout, but this is very subtle in the finished layout.

My 3x4 black and white photo was placed on top of the semi-circle and I then got busy fussy cutting images from paper #7 and paper #3 . The fussy cut pieces were then arranged either side of the photo.

I also added a wood veneer word found in my stash on top of the images. The wood veneer was a perfect compliment to the colours of this collection.

The title was created using some puffy alpha stickers in a peach colour from Pinkfresh Studio and was placed below the photo cluster.

At this point I thought my layout was nearly finished but the white space looked .... well .... a little too white! So, I took some Walnut Stain distressed oxide ink and a bubble stencil from Paige Evans and added some stenciling.

Finally I added the date in the lower left corner of the layout using more of the puffy alpha stickers and also dotted a few wood veneer stars above the photo.

I was really pleased how this layout turned out. The colours are far more muted than I would usually choose, but they were perfect for the photo I used.

Carta Bella Happy Christmas - Merry & Bright

My final layout for the Papermaze blog using  Carta Bella's Happy Christmas collection.

For my layout I started with a sheet of the Christmas Signs paper.

I then cut nine 2.5" squares from scraps of the various papers from the collection. These were arranged in a 3 x 3 grid on a piece of white cardstock and placed on the layout. Using a Uni-ball White Signo Gel Pen I drew faux stitching round the edges of the squares and also round the outside of the layout.

My 4x6 photo was double matted onto white and red cardstock and fixed onto the layout with 3D foam underneath, overlapping the nine square grid.

I embellished the layout with pieces fussy cut from the 3x4 journalling cards and placed 3D foam underneath to add some dimension.

I also added one of the chipboard phrases.

I hand stitched a chain-stitch hanger using some red embroidery thread for one of the fussy cut baubles.

A ribbon bow (saved from a Christmas Card) embellished a fussy cut wreath.

Finally, watered down white acrylic paint was splatted over the whole layout, a few white sequins were scattered about and die cut numbers were used for the date.

Carta Bella Happy Christmas - Ho Ho Ho

Today I have layout using Carta Bella's Happy Christmas collection on the Papermaze blog. This layout which was inspired by a layout by Suzanna Lee, uses a very simple loose grid design which is great for scrapbooking multiple photos.

I started by creating my own Ho Ho Ho cut file and cut this from a sheet of white cardstock. The sheet of cardstock was then trimmed down slightly and stuck onto a sheet of red cardstock leaving a narrow border. Using white thread I then machine stitched round the edges.

I created shaker pockets from the Os in the The Ho Ho Ho words using some acetate and silver sequins.

The words were then stuck back into the apertures using foam squares underneath to raise them slightly and add dimension. They were also slightly offset to give the impression of a shadow.

I layered some of the 3x4 journalling cards and Gift Tags behind my three photos, threaded the tags with some red bakers twine and then placed them on the layout with 3D foam underneath.

Various bits and pieces were used to embellish the photos. I used some pieces from the sheet of chipboard phrases and also some wood veneer Christmas Trees. I used some stars punched from silver glitter card too to pick up the silver in the shaker pockets.

Finally I added the date, cut from some of the red paper from the collection, in the top corner.

Carta Bella Welcome Autumn - My Favourite Colour is October

Today I have a layout to share using the Welcome Autumn collection from Carta Bella. As the name of the collection suggests, this collection is autumn themed and the colours are traditional vibrant autumn colours - oranges, reds, rusts, browns and greens  This is the first layout I've created using this collection and the colours were the inspiration for my layout which uses a large 12" x 8" photo taken in October a few years ago.

I used one of my go-to designs for this layout - a big photo and borders top and bottom.

I used a piece of 12x12 white cardstock for my base and stuck my photo about 2" from the bottom of the layout.

Above and below the photo I added strips of the Perfect Pie (B Side) and Autumn Air (B Side) papers. I added some gold and black washi tape from my stash and a punched white cardstock border strip. I also machine stitched with white thread across one of the strips at the top.

The title at the top of the page was created using white foam alphas from Pink Paislee and the word October was cut on the silhouette from white cardstock. I nestled the word October among the foam alphas and let it overlap the top of the photo.

At the bottom of the page I added two tags made from the 3x4 cut apart journalling cards. Foam was placed underneath the tags to raise them up slightly and they were finished off with eyelets and bakers twine.

I tucked a few chipboard leaves and a pumpkin from the Chipboard Accents sheet underneath the tags and also dotted some gold sequins along the bottom.

The layout was completed with the addition of some teeny tiny black letter stickers for the journalling

49 & Market Vintage Artistry Hike More - A Moment in Time

Today I have a final layout on the Papermaze blog using the 49 & Market Vintage Artistry Hike More collection. My two previous layouts have been nature themed but today's layout is a heritage style layout  using a photograph of my nana when she was a young woman.

I started with a sheet of olive green cardstock. I trimmed a quarter of an inch from each side of a sheet of the Bramble paper and then using a distressing tool I distressed the edges of the paper. The paper was  machine stitched on top of the olive cardstock with white thread. After stitching the paper I used my fingernails to lift the edges of the paper to give the background some more texture and dimension.

I also machine stitched round the edges of my photo and a butterfly card from the pack of Ephemera Bits with the same white thread. Then, using a craft knife, I cut round the wings of each butterfly on the card and slipped my photograph underneath the wings before attaching the card and photograph to the the centre of the layout with some craft foam underneath.

3D foam squares were also placed underneath the butterfly's wings to keep them raised up.

The layout was embellished by tucking lots of  bits and pieces under the card and photograph.

Using a honeycomb die I cut some pieces from kraft cardstock to add to the layout.

A doilie and die cut leaf-flourish were added.

A kraft tag tied with natural twine was tucked behind the top of the photo.

At the bottom of the photo I added some cream cotton lace and a vintage button from my button tin.

Letters cut from more of the olive cardstock were used to create the title and the date and a few sequins finished off the layout.

Cocoa Vanilla Studio Sunkissed

Today on the Papermaze blog I'm sharing a layout using the new Sunkissed collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. If you like bright sunny collections, this is right up your street! The collection celebrates all things Summer and is full of bright juicy colours and is perfect for documenting past and future summer memories.

My layout today is of Lara on the beach and uses all the zesty colours in the collection.

Inspiration for my layout came from a sketch on Lets Get Sketchy although I didn't stick too closely to the sketch.

I started with a sheet of the Feeling Fine paper which after trimming a quarter of an inch from each edge I mounted on a 12 x 12 sheet of white Bazzill cardstock and then using a black gel pen drew round the edge.

I used a hexagonal die to cut several hexagons from papers from the collection as well as from some of the pockets cards, doodled round the edges of these and stuck them on the layout to the left of where my photo was to be placed.

My photo was double matted on white and black cardstock and then placed on the layout with 3D foam underneath.

From the Fun in the Sun cut apart sheet I cut a strip of rainbow stripey paper and placed this next to the photo.  I attached a strip of white cardstock next to this that I punched with a border punch and on top I attached a thin strip of the B side of the Feeling Fine paper. To add some texture I added some cross stitches to the paper strip using white embroidery thread.

One of the pocket cards was added to the layout with 3D foam underneath.

The Growing Wild paper is perfect for fussy cutting and I cut some of the florals from the paper to use as embellishments.

The word Sunkissed was cut from the packaging containing the pocket cards and was placed on top of the fussy cut flowers.

In the top left corner of the layout I created a cluster with some of the die cut ephemera pieces.

To complete the layout I used some tiny letter stickers from my stash to add the date and place and dotted some gold sequins around the layout.

Carta Bella By The Sea - Yesterday at Shingle Street

Last month we managed to grab a long weekend away in Suffolk. On our final day after packing up the car to travel home, we drove to the small coastal hamlet of Shingle Street for one last beach walk. At home the next day, Wayne and I decided to watch a film and by chance chose the 2019 film 'Yesterday'. It had been on our 'To Watch' list for ages and just happened to be available to stream online. We had no idea that the film was set in Suffolk and imagine our surprise when we spotted Shingle Street as the location for one of the important scenes in the film. I just had to scrapbook this serendipitous moment using the By The Sea collection from Carta Bella and titled my layout 'Yesterday at Shingle Street'.

For the base of my layout I used a sheet of 12x12 Coastal Bazzill cardstock. It perfectly co-ordinates with this collection.

I matted my 4x6 photo on white cardstock and behind this layered a piece of the Sea & Sand paper and a piece of kraft cardstock.

Some extra images from the Sea & Sand paper were fussy cut and added to the layout as well as some words cut from some of the Ephemera and Frames pack.

I also added some Tim Holtz Idea-ology Quote Chips.

I found the perfect cut file for part of the title and cut this from kraft cardstock backed with a scrap of the B side of the Sailor Stripe paper.

The rest of the title was created using Foam Thickers from Pink Paislee.

I cut a tag from some kraft cardstock and threaded a piece of Bakers Twine through the hole. Journaling strips were glued to the tag and the tag was tucked into the top of the layout.

The layout was completed with a few sequins and using a black pen I doodled round the edges of the papers.
