Today on the Papermaze blog I have one final layout using the Hey Crafty Girl Collection from Simple Stories.
I started with a sheet of white Bazzill cardstock and in the centre I painted a rough square with some aqua coloured acrylic paint.
I then cut a piece of the Crafty & Happy paper into strips and used various paper punches to punch the edges. The punched strips were then layered horizontally in the centre of the layout on top of the painted square.
My 6x4 photo was stuck to the right side of the layout with foam underneath to add dimension.
I made a tag using one of the 4x4 elements and some pink Bakers Twine and attached this to the left side of the layout overlapping the corner of the photo.
I fussy cut some flowers from the B side of the 4x4 elements paper and used these and one of the 2x2 elements to embellish the layout.
A few sequins and sparkly star shaped enamel dots were scattered around the layout.
To finish the layout I doodled with a black gel pen around the edge of the layout and on some of the embelishments and added some small punched paper strips at the top and bottom of the page. The date was die cut from coordinating card stock.
This basis of this scrapbook layout has been languishing in my WIP box for several years! I started a layout with these papers and photo a long time ago and them lost my way with the layout and so it was put in the box for a day when I felt inspired. Last weekend I decided to start the layout again. That's not something I generally do but I decided to remove the papers from the original background and have another go.
I started with a sheet of white Bazzill cardstock and trimmed roughly a quarter of an inch from each edge. I then used some green watercolour paint and some spray mist to create a messy background.
Using the Paige Evans' 'folded circles' cutting file from the Silhouette Studio I cut 70+ circles from the varying shades of green patterned paper rescued from the original layout which i folded to make the squares for my layout.
The folded squares were glued on the layout randomly and because the papers were double sided the colours from the reverse sides peeked between the squares giving an extra pop of colour.
My 6" x 4" photo was matted on some green paper and placed among the squares. I then dug deep into my stash to find embelishments that went with the green colour scheme.
A 'This Is The Good Life' die cut strip was layered over some of the squares.
A very, very old acrylic square with the word 'relax' was the perfect size and colour to nestle among the squares.
I cut down a project life card and added a sticker and yellow sunglasses button.
I tucked a scallop strip beneath the bottom edge of the photo and used various letter stickers for my title.
A few arrow stickers, sequins, enamel dots and ink splatters were added and the page was completed by matting the white cardstock onto a 12" x 12" sheet of green spotted paper and details were added with tiny black letter stickers.
I decided to play with some acrylic paint on a scrapbook layout.
Using a dry foam brush I painted some Vicki Boutin Mixed Media 'Coral Macaroon' Acrylic paint in the middle of a sheet of white Bazzill cardstock. When this was dry I trimmed the cardstock down to 11.5" x 11.5" and matted this on a 12" x 12" sheet of black Bazzill cardstock and using my sewing machine stitched round the edge with black thread.
Torn pieces of pink washi tape were stuck to the edges for the layout.
Two Polaroid style photos were layered on various project life cards and a white paper doilie and were then stuck to the centre of the layout on 3D foam.
I made some paper rosettes using scraps of co-ordinating patterned papers from my scrap box and also some handmade ribbon rosettes using black and white gingham ribbon.
I used brads and some Rhinestone Sparklers (from The Hobby House) as centres for the rosettes.
The rosettes were clustered on the layout with some enamel dots, resin flowers and some stickers.
Foam Phrase Thickers were used for the title.
Tiny letters stickers, a scattering of sequins and a some black splatters made with Heidi Swapp Colour Shine finished off the layout.
My second layout from last weekend is a scraplift of a layout by Maria Featon. The layout was quite unusual for me because I used paint and ink which don't usually feature on many of my layouts.
I used a 12" x 12" sheets of Kraft Cardstock and paper strips cut from a 6" x 6" pack of patterned paper which came free with a magazine. Some very old 'stitches' rub-ons were added to the edges of the paper strips.
Before sticking the patterned paper onto my base card I used a couple of Crafter's Workshop stencils to add some added interest. I used white paint with a Hexagon Stencil ....
.... and black ink with a Chicken Wire stencil.
BasicGrey letter stickers were used for the title and paper journalling strips created on the computer were added.
To embelish the layout I made some accordion folded papers rosettes and finished them off with buttons and baker's twine.
X is for (e)Xplosion! This month at Scrapology we are taking inspiration from a stunning layout by Corrie Jones and you are invited to join in by creating your own (e)Xplosion.
For my (e)Xploding layout I used school photos from 2011. I used red acrylic paint to paint an (e)Xplosion on white cardstock before matting and layering my photos on top and them embelishing with brads, sequins, puffy stickers, enamel dots and some felt stars. The title was created with some Thickers and the date added with more stickers.
Here is Corrie's amazing layout which we used as inspiration ....
.... and Lynn's sketch.
