Photoplay This Happy Life - Summer Vibes

Today I've got a new scrapbook layout to share featuring Photoplay's This Happy Life collection. It's such a bright and cheerful collection – absolutely perfect for showing off those sunny summer snapshots!

For this layout, I began by cutting Paige Evans' gorgeous 'Heartburst' cut file from smooth white cardstock.

Next, I backed that cut file (leaving the heart unbacked) with a colourful mix of patterned papers from the collection. To make it really pop, I positioned it in the centre of a slightly trimmed down piece of black 12x12 cardstock. A layer of 3D foam underneath the backed cut file gives it dimension and a bit of shadow. Finally, I mounted the whole thing onto a white cardstock base.

Within the heart, I created a collage of punched paper hearts. I used two different sizes of heart punches. As I arranged them, I made sure to spread out the various colours and sizes for a balanced look. For a little extra sparkle, I also scattered a few iridescent sequins among the punched hearts.

My photo was double matted to help it stand out, and I positioned it near the bottom of the layout, letting it slightly overlap the central heart design. To add a sub-title, I grabbed one of the cut-aparts from the "It Happened" paper and tucked it under the corner of the photo. I also added some punched paper hearts to the top of the card, and digging through my stash, I found a word strip leftover from the design team kit I used last month – perfect for adding a little extra sentiment.

To finish off, I die-cut the words "Summer Vibes" from more black cardstock and placed them in the top left corner of the layout. It felt like the perfect title for this happy, summer photo of Lara.

Photoplay This Happy Life - Ascott House

I'm excited to share a scrapbook layout I created using the lovely new "This Happy Life" collection from Photoplay. This collection is bursting with cheerful, vibrant colours, inspiring phrases, and lovely images – absolutely ideal for documenting all those joyful moments in your life.

My layout is inspired by a layout by Jessica Mikels.

For the base of my layout, I started with a 12x12 sheet of smooth white cardstock. Along the bottom edge, I added layers of patterned paper: first, a 2.5" strip of the "All My Life" paper, topped with a 2" strip of the "This Year" paper.

Using my sewing machine and white thread, I added a border and texture by straight stitching all the way around the edge of the layout.

I printed six 3" square photos and gave each one a double mat. The first layer of each mat is white cardstock, followed by a layer of patterned paper from the collection. For the patterned layers, I used the A & B sides of the "Everyday" paper and the B sides of the "Sweet Hello" and "This Year" papers.

I then arranged the six photos in a 2 x 3 grid across the upper portion of the layout. To add a touch of interest, I tucked small pieces of patterned paper beneath the corners of a couple of the photos.

For the title, which was placed on the layered paper strips at the bottom of the layout, I used my Silhouette machine to cut out words from gold mirror cardstock. To make the title really pop against the patterned papers, I created a white cardstock mat for the gold words. Finally, I added small gold foam letter stickers from my personal collection to complete the title.

To the left of the title, I added a cluster of die-cut flowers and leaves from my stash.

To complete the layout and tie in the gold of the title, I added a few gold sequins across the layout and the date in the bottom right corner.
