Papermaze Design Team - Simple Stories I Am ... Part 3

Today I am on the Papermaze blog again. After creating two 12x12 layouts my DT kit I had lots of scraps of patterned paper left over so I decided to make some cards.

The cut apart sheets which Simple Stories and several other manufacturers produce are perfect for cardmaking especially when layered with other papers.

I layered the cut apart cards using 3D foam on top of scraps of the other papers and added paper doilies to some of the cards.

I embellished with fussy cut butterflies from the Choosing Happiness paper, stickers from the 4x6 sticker sheets, punched borders and also lace, ribbon, small blossoms and sentiments from my stash.

Home from Home

This layout is the last layout I have to show from my crafty weekend away last month. It's based on a layout by Crafty Jen Schow and uses a sheet of patterned paper from Crate Paper's Wonder Collection which has images of houses. Jen used the paper as a border but I have seen many other people do this too.

For my layout I used photos of the holiday cottage we stayed at in Norfolk last year.

The base for my layout was a sheet of 12" x 12" white Bazzill cardstock which was trimmed slightly and matted onto a sheet of black cardstock.

I fussy cut a strip of the houses from the patterned paper and stuck this along the bottom of the layout using 3D foam to add some dimension.

My three photos were each matted on black cardstock and stuck to the layout in a block.

I used some black foam Thickers for the title and smaller black stickers for the title.

At the top of the layout I stuck a couple of strips of coordinating papers. Die cuts and a punched heart were used to create a cluster on the the left top corner of the page.

That was a good night out

I started this layout whilst on my crafty weekend away last month and took it home to finish. Boy did I struggle with it! Its quite a busy page and I just couldn't figure out how to complete it but finally, nearly a month after it was started, I think its finished 😊

The photographs were taken at a pub in the Norfolk village where we holidayed last October. We have holidayed in this particular Norfolk village many times but had never visited the pub. On this occasion we did, and were really pleased we did because it is a gem.

For my layout I started with a background sheet of 12" x 12" cream diagonal stripe patterned paper from the My Minds Eye Follow Your Heart collection. On the background I matted a sheet of wood grain patterned paper which I had trimmed 5mm off of each edge. I'm not 100% sure but think the paper was probably from the My Minds Eye Miss Caroline collection.

I printed four photos approx 2.5" square, matted these on white cardstock and stuck them to the right side of the layout.

Two pieces of the cream diagonal stripe patterned paper were added as well as two manila tags.

I then added all manner of embelishments from numerous manufacturers - stickers, enamel dots, die cuts, images cut from patterned paper scraps, a image of a beer label downloaded from the internet that I printed in sepia and a stamped arrow. I just added bits and pieces which I thought went with the theme and colour scheme.

I die cut my title and additional letter stickers from Simple Stories were added to complete it.

Journalling strips were printed on white cardstock on the computer and the date was added with tiny black letter stickers.

Do you Want to Build a Snowman

This layout is another that I put together whilst away in Berkshire the other weekend. Considering we get snow so infrequently, I was surprised to see that this is the 23rd snow themed layout that I have created and posted on this blog!

I layered a variety of pieces of patterned paper (many quite old) in shades of beige and brown beneath a photograph of Lara taken in the snow just before Christmas. A white paper doily was also placed underneath the layers on the left side.

The 'Snowman' part of my title was cut using a Silhouette cut file and the rest was created with stickers from Simple Stories.

I embellished the layout with die cut snowflakes which were glittered to add sparkle.

Gold sequins were scattered around the layout and a die cut saying 'remember this' and stickers for the date were added to finish the layout.

Sea Palling

Whilst away at last months craft weekend, I put together this layout of Sea Palling - one of our favourite beaches in Norfolk.

I used supplies from Kaisercraft's 'Beach Shack' collection.

I started with a 12x12 sheet of the woodgrain paper and on this I mounted my 8x12 photograph of the beach. Three smaller photos showing seaweed, limpets and another view of the beach (approx 2" square) were matted onto white cardstock and layered on the lower edge of the photograph using 3D foam.

My title was cut from white cardstock using the Silhouette Studio.

My journalling strips were printed on white cardstock on the computer using a typewriter font.

The page was embellished with stickers from the sticker sheet, die cuts from an older pack of Kaisercraft's 'High Tide' Collectables and a chipboard button.

Tiny stickers from Fundamentals were used to add the date in the bottom left corner.

Papermaze Design Team - Simple Stories I Am ... Part 2

Today I have another layout on the Scrap Paper Scissors blog using the Simple Stories I Am... collection

I decided to create a layout with photos taken of the gardens at Wrest Park, Silsoe. With the weather hopefully becoming more springlike soon, its the ideal opportunity to get out and enjoy the outdoor and take lots of photos.

This layout uses a grid and five photos. A grid is a good way to include multiple photos without the layout looking cluttered.

Using my sewing machine I stitched with black thread a 9x9 grid on the yellow floral side of the sheet of  the 4x4 elements paper. I printed five 3" square photos , matted them onto white Bazzill cardstock and stuck them into the grid.

In other sections I used some of the 3x4 foiled elements and pieces of patterned paper which I also trimmed to 3" square and matted onto white cardstock.

The squares were then embellished with butterflies cut from the Choosing Happiness paperenamel dots and stickers from the 4x6 sticker sheets.

My title was cut using the Silhouette and added to the layout as well as journaling strips printed on the computer.
