Simple Stories Little Princess

This is the final layout I created for the Papermaze blog  using the Simple Stories Little Princess collection.

One of the 4x4 elements cards inspired me to create a tongue in cheek layout using a selfie taken in Snapchat.

I started by matting a 11.5x11 sheet of white Bazzill cardstock onto a 12x12 sheet of peach Bazzill cardstock and added a strip of the B side of the 4x4 elements paper on the right hand side.

I then painted a rough square in the centre of the white cardstock with some peach coloured acrylic paint and added some stars with white texture paste. Once dried, a strip of the 4x4 elements paper was stuck on top of the painted square. I machine stitched round all the edges using white thread.

My 5x7 photo was added to the layout and one of the 4x6 elements cards was cut in half and placed behind the photo.  A paper doilie and the 4x4 card, which had inspired my layout, were placed underneath the right edge of the photo having been matted on a piece of the Sparkle and Shine paper.

To embelish the layout I made some 3D stars from the Sparkle and Shine paper. Scoring and folding the paper stars and sticking them to the layout with 3D foam tabs give them their dimension.

The layout was completed with a scattering of sequins and a movie quote printed on the computer and cut into strips.

Simple Stories Little Princess - Spring Smiles

This layout is another one I made for the Papermaze blog using the Little Princess collection from Simple Stories. This collection is so bright and vibrant and I thought it would be ideal for scrapbooking a photo of Lara taken one Easter. I think the design of this layout would also suit a birthday photo.

I started by gutting a sheet of the Hello Princess paper and then stuck a piece of white Bazzill cardstock measuring 11.5" x 11.5" in the centre. I machine stitched round the edges with white thread to add some extra texture.

I then took an 11.5" x 6.5" piece of the Hello Princess paper and stuck this on the top portion of the layout and machine stitched the top and bottom edges. Strips of the Simply Charming paper were added to the top and bottom of the paper, one of which I punched with a border punch. The border punch created holes in the paper strip which I threaded thin blue ribbon though and finished off with a bow.

My 5" x 7" photo was matted on some white cardstock and attached to the layout with a strip of the Make a Wish paper underneath. I tucked a tissue paper ruffle under the bottom edge of the photo. The ruffle was created by pleating a double layer of tissue paper onto a narrow strip of cardstock and then I ran a line of machine stitching along the top of the ruffle to make sure the pleats stayed in place.

Using a circle punch I punched the words 'Shine Bright' from the sheet of 2x2 elements and added this to the corner of the photo.

As part of my DT kit, Vanessa sent me some small white tie on tags. I die cut letters to spell out the word 'Spring' from 6 tags and backed them with some bright pink cardstock. I removed the strings from the tags and created a banner to hang underneath the photo using the tags, some pink bakers twine, some triangles cut from left over scraps of the Hello Princess paper and some flowers die cut from pale blue cardstock. Pink enamel dots were stuck to the flower centres.

To complete the title the word 'Smiles', which I die cut from pale blue cardstock, was nestled beneath the banner and the date was added using Pink Fresh Pink Puffy Alpha Stickers.

Journalling strips, printed onto white paper, were stuck to the bottom left corner of  the layout and enamel dots were put in three of the corners.
